Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • water (enough to cover the eggs)
  • ice

Instructions

  1. Carefully place your eggs in a pot, large enough to easily hold the number of eggs you are boiling.
  2. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs and bring to a boil.

  3. Immediately reduce the heat to the lowest setting and set a timer for 9 minutes. (Do not cover.) Let the eggs gently simmer until the timer rings.

  4. While the eggs are simmering, prepare a large bowl with ice water.
  5. Remove each egg with a slotted spoon, placing them in the ice water as you go.
  6. Once the eggs are cool enough to touch, gently tap them with the back of a spoon (or on the side of the sink, on a cutting board, etc.)
  7. Peel the eggs. (If they're still very warm, you can lightly run cold water over the eggs as you peel them.)
  8. Once they've cooled, they should be refrigerated until you're ready to use them.
